Neem Oil - Ingredient Highlight

Azadirachta indica or the neem tree is a member of the mahogany family and is found across the Indian subcontinent - Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal, Pakistan. Neem trees also grow on some islands off the southern coast of Iran and can be found in various other countries such as Australia, Indian Ocean states and sub-sahara Africa. The fruit and seeds from the neem tree are harvested and pressed to extract neem oil.
Neem oil is a widely versatile oil. While researching and writing this article I learned something new and wanted to share it with you. As a mother of two small toddlers who love to play outside, garden and plant things; I want to make sure their environment is safe and free of chemicals or anything else that could harm them. We also want to make sure the fruits and veggies we grow are organic and free of pesticides, but then we have the problem of pests…The pros of having an organic pesticide free garden outweigh the cons. We have yet to find an effective solution to pest control in our garden, but I think neem oil is going to be a game changer. Neem oil is considered Nontoxic and doesn't harm beneficial garden insects like honeybees, spiders, ants, worms and butterflies (as long as you don't spray them directly). It cuts down on aphids, mosquitoes, nematodes, and other critters you don’t want around your plants. It is also effective in preventing mildew, black spot and virus that can harm plants too! It doesn't leave any weird residue either. This is something we will definitely be trying out when the time comes!
As I mentioned above, organic gardeners use neem oil to keep Mosquitos at bay in their gardens… SO do we! We use neem oil in our DEET free No Bugs Mist! We love using on every member of our family to help keep those pesky bugs at bay! Neem oil also can help soothe irritation, speed up wound healing, reduce inflammation, and act as a protective barrier for your skin, which is why we have included it our Say No to Cracked Feet Foot Butter. Neem oil has uses from gardens to camping to skincare. Enjoy the outdoors free of mosquitoes (using our No Bugs Mist) and then help your feet recover from the awesome adventures you took (using our Say No to Cracked Feet Foot Butter). Wahoo! Can't wait to learn what else other plants can help us with!
